A sangre y fuego reúne piezas de ambos artistas realizadas en Barcelona en 1986. Libro ensamblado a manera de homenaje al maestro y escultor Jesús Rodríguez de la Vega.
El libro se presentó en la Galería Libertad en Querétaro, MEXICO, en Mayo 2012. De igual manera se presentó en la Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara FIL en 2013.
El libro se encuentra en varias bibliotecas del mundo, como en la Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut en Berlín, Yale University, Columbia University en Nueva York NYU, en la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York NYPL, en la Universidad de Nueva York y en el Instituto de Arte de Chicago.
Overview
A sangre y fuego (By Blood and Fire) brings together pieces by both artists created during their residency in Barcelona in 1986. It assembles as a tribute to the master and sculptor Jesús Rodríguez de la Vega.
The book was presented at the Libertad Gallery in Queretaro, MEXICO in May 2013. It was also presented in the International Book Fair of Guadalajara on 2013.
Nowadays, the book is found is part of international library collections, such as the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut in Berlin, Yale University, Columbia University in New York NYU, the New York Public Library NYPL, New York University, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Agonía moderna y arte recopila la historia creativa, donde reúne historias para contar, desde la mirada de un pintor, los asuntos que formaron y nutrieron una vida de colaboración y trabajos de dos personajes dedicados a las artes: Gerardo Esquivel y Julio Castillo.
Un libro que conmueve con palabras, formas y seduce con acertijos y narraciones íntimas, para encontrar una serie de imágenes e historias que logramos descifrar y apropiar, que nos brindan una visión única a ese transitar de estos dos artistas entre la tradición, la ausencia de modernidad y la vanguardia distante.
Agonía moderna y Arte (Art and Modern Agony) compiles the creative stories from the gaze of the painter, the issues that formed and nurtured his life of collaboration and the works of two characters dedicated to the arts: Gerardo Esquivel and Julio Castillo.
This book is moving with its use of words and shapes. It seduces with riddles and intimate narratives allowing the reader to decipher a series of images and stories that can be appropriated, giving a unique vision of the transit of these two artists between tradition, the absence of modernity, and the distant avant-garde.

Squatters toma su nombre del movimiento okupa (personas que toman terrenos desocupados o viviendas vacías temporal o permanentemente, con el fin de utilizarlos como vivienda, guarida, centro de reunión social, político, cultura, entre otros).
El libro presenta un conjunto de obras realizadas entre 1985–2016, con inspiración en los años de estudio y experiencia que Gerardo Esquivel vivió en Europa, principalmente en Barcelona, España (1985), los Países Bajos (1986) y Betanzos, España (2008). La serie Squatters también es llamada Ciudades. En su versión impresa se presentan 49 obras entre pinturas, diseños (exlibris y sellos), la mayoría dibujos realizados con tinta china sobre papel y posteriormente digitalizados e intervenidos.
La presentación del libro está acompañada de un texto del poeta Hugo Gutiérrez Vega y da cuenta de los lugares, recorridos por el artista, en los cuales forjó su estilo personal, amor por la pintura y el arte, iniciado por su ciudad originaria: Querétaro.
Overview
Squatters take its name from the squat movement (people who take vacant land or vacant homes temporarily or permanently, in order to use them as a home, den, social, political or cultural meeting place, among others).
The book presents a set of works created between 1985–2016, inspired by the years of study and residency that Gerardo Esquivel lived in Europe, mainly in Barcelona, Spain (1985), the Netherlands (1986) and Betanzos, Spain (2008). The Squatters series also receives the name of Cities. In its printed version, 49 works are presented, including paintings, designs (exlibris and stamps), most of which are drawings made with ink on paper and subsequently digitized and intervened.
The presentation of the book is accompanied with texts from the poet Hugo Gutiérrez Vega giving an account of the places, traveled by the artist, in which he forged his personal style, his love for painting and art ignited by his hometown: Querétaro.
