El proceso de creación de una fundación que trabajara con el acervo artístico de Gerardo Esquivel se inició con unas pláticas informales con el propio artista durante el verano de 2017, mientras aún se encontraba activa la campaña Un Riñón para el Arte. Durante estas pláticas, era evidente que la idea había estado creciendo en la mente de Gerardo durante mucho tiempo, y la factibilidad parecía estar al alcance. Lamentablemente, Gerardo falleció el 26 de abril de 2019, dejando este proyecto en medio de su creación.
Para honrar su memoria, la Fundación Gerardo Esquivel quiere permanecer fiel a las ideas e ideales de Gerardo. El 26 de abril de 2020, en el primer año sin él, la fundación dio a conocer su misión y su objetivo; especialmente ésta comenzó activamente a rastrear, recopilar su obra y catalogar su obra. La fundación busca ser una plataforma para difundir, promocionar y poner al alcance de todos la obra artística de Gerardo para su disfrute. Además, la Fundación busca rastrear la obra existente, dar a conocer obras, libros y proyectos inéditos
Aprender a caminar por el mundo sin Geer no ha sido fácil, pero continuar con el proyecto de la Fundación nos ha acercado a él de una manera muy especial a través de su trabajo. La Fundación Gerardo Esquivel está impulsada por el amor y el esfuerzo de su familia por mantener viva la memoria de Gerardo y su obra presente.
La Fundación es una iniciativa en proceso liderada por Andrea Esquivel, Krizia Villanueva, Daniela González y Oswaldo García. Agradecemos el apoyo brindado por la Teresa García y la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, Gabriel Hörner y el Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, el taller de serigrafía y el Centro de Cultura Dr. Ignacio Mena, y la Secretaria de Cultura de Querétaro.
About us
The process of creating a foundation that would work with the artistic heritage of Gerardo Esquivel began with some informal talks with the artist himself during the summer of 2017, while the campaign Un Riñón para el Arte (A kidney for art) was still active. It was noticeable that this idea had been growing in his mind for a long time, and the feasibility seemed at grasp. Unfortunately, Gerardo passed away on April 26th, 2019, leaving this project in the middle of its creation.
To honor his memory, the Gerardo Esquivel Foundation wants to remain loyal to Gerardo's ideas and ideals. On April 26th, 2020, on the first year without him, the foundation announced its mission and its objective; especially it started actively to track, compile, and catalog his work. The foundation seeks to be a platform to disseminate, promote and make Gerardo's artistic work available for everyone's enjoyment. Furthermore, the Foundation seeks to track the existing work, publicize his artistic works, books and unpublished projects.
Learning to walk the world without Geer has not been easy, but continuing with the Foundation's project has brought us closer to him in a very special way through his work. The Gerardo Esquivel Foundation's main drive is the family's love and effort to keep Gerardo's memory alive, and his work present.
The Foundation is an initiative in process leaded by Andrea Esquivel, Krizia Villanueva, Daniela González, and Oswaldo García. We thank the support offered by the Teresa García and the Autonomous University of Queretaro, Gabriel Hörner and the Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, the silkscreen workshop and the Culture Centre Dr. Ignacio Mena, and the Ministry of Culture of Queretaro.

conservar, estudiar, difundir y compartir con el público el legado artístico de Gerardo Esquivel con una visión global y contemporánea.
Objetivo
La fundación tiene como objetivo liberar no sólo el trabajo artístico, sino también los trabajos incompletos, los textos, la biblioteca y las ideas de Gerardo Esquivel; para que así siga alimentando la imaginación del público y el imaginario artístico.
La fundación busca que la obra de Gerardo viaje, toque puertas, cree diálogo y abra un intercambio, invitándonos a la conversación, y a la vez resonando e inspirando a las nuevas generaciones de artistas.

Goal
The foundation aims to bring forward Gerardo Esquivel's artwork, including the incomplete works, the texts, his personal library and ideas; so his artwork continues to feed the people's imagination and the artistic imaginary.
The foundation seeks that Gerardo's work travels, knocks on doors, creates a dialogue and opens an exchange, inviting us to conversation, and at the same time resounding and inspiring new generations of artists.

Andrea Esquivel
Miembro co-fundador de la fundación. Junto con Gerardo, platicaron y planearon la fundación en el verano de 2017. Su tenacidad impulsa este proyecto hacia el futuro.
Nació en Queretaro en 1988, estudió arquitectura en el Tecnológico de Monterrey y tiene una maestría por la Universidad de Aalto, Finlandia.
Co-founding member of the foundation. Together with Gerardo, they talked and planned the foundation back on the summer of 2017. Her tenacity boosts this project towards the future.
Born in Queretaro on 1988, she studied architecture at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, and has a masters from Aalto University in Finland.
Krizia Villanueva
Miembro co-fundador de la fundación. Es sobrina de Gerardo, junto con quien creció y se crió, convirtiéndose en su confidente, amiga, hija, y hermana. Krizia es emprendedora y una máster de redes sociales.
Nació en Querétaro en 1989, estudió psicología en la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro.
Co-founding member of the foundation. She is Gerardo's niece, together with whom she grew up, becoming his confidante, friend, daughter, and sister. She is an entrepreneur and a master in social media.

Oswaldo García
Miembro co-fundador de la fundación, está lleno de ideas innovadoras. Es fotógrafo, restaurador, editor y co-fundador de la editorial independiente Gold Rain x Da Substanz.
Nació en Querétaro en 1989, estudió restauración en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro.
Co-founder member of the foundation, he is full of innovative ideas. He is a photographer, art conservator, editor, printer and co-founder of the independent publishing house Gold Rain x Da Substanz.
Born in Querétaro in 1989, he studied art conservation at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Querétaro.
Daniela González
Miembro co-fundador de la fundación. Es sobrina de Gerardo, su carácter afable su actitud siempre positiva, y su espíritu emprendedor guían el espíritu de la fundación.
Nació en Querétaro en 1990, estudió Nutrición en la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro.
Co-founding member of the foundation. She is Gerardo's niece, her affable character, her positive attitude, and her entrepreneurial spirit guide the spirit of the foundation.
